Burgas Airport has announced new routes for the upcoming summer season as part of preparations for the airport’s reopening following a €50 million runway renovation. Starting in early May, Ryanair will operate direct flights between Burgas and Rome Fiumicino Airport (Italy). Flights will operate twice a week—on Fridays and Sundays—and tickets are already on sale, Burgas Airport reported. The Irish carrier will operate a total of 11 routes from Burgas this summer, seven of which are to European capitals.
British airline Jet2.com has also confirmed its plans for next year: starting May 2, it will begin operating a route between London Gatwick and Burgas. Flights on this route will operate every Wednesday and Saturday. The carrier plans to connect Burgas with 11 of its bases in the UK during the summer months. French airline Volotea is also adding to the list of new destinations. Starting May 27, it will launch a seasonal route from Lille to Burgas. Flights to the French city will operate once a week. These new routes are part of the airport operator’s strategy to expand transportation links in the region immediately following the completion of construction work at the end of April.
The Hungarian airline WizzAir is launching a new route between Burgas and Warsaw. Flights, which will begin in the middle of the summer season (July 21), will operate twice a week—every Tuesday and Saturday. Transavia France, in turn, will operate regular flights on the Paris (Orly Airport) – Burgas route every Monday starting May 25.
